Meet the new Miss South Africa 2019, 👑 Zozibini Tunzi

Zozibini Tunzi became the 61st Miss South Africa on Women’s Day 9 August 2019 and was crowned with a brand new crown.

Zozibini Tunzi was crowned as the latest Miss South Africa at a glitzy pageant final main event at Sun Arena on Women’s Day 9 August, carrying on a tradition that dates back to 1943.

The brand new crown is a creation crafted by American Swiss and is named ‘uBuhle bethingo lenkosazana’. It is a celebration of women, diversity and the beauty of the rainbow.

The pageant had all-female judging panel that includes South African talk show icon Anele Mdoda and the reigning Miss Universe Catriona Gray.

Sixteen finalists started the evening with a shot at glory but that number soon became ten as the judges announced the top ten finalists. Chuma Matsaluka won the fan vote and was the first of the top ten to be announced. Chuma was joined in the top ten by Zozibini Tunzi, Sasha-Lee Olivier, Kgothatso Dithebe, Daniella Wallace, Nompumelelo Maduna, Loren Leigh Jenneker, Eloise van der Westhuizen, Sibabalwe Gcilitshana and Errin Brits.

The ten hopefuls then had their number trimmed by half as the top five progressed to a round of judges questions.

Sasha and Zozibini were the last two ladies left standing after the judges questions and faced the final question.
Zozibini did well in her answer but ran out of time before she could conclude her answer.

The final answer is very important but it is not the be-all and end-all of judging Miss South Africa.

The winner of Miss SA receives a cash prize of R1-million as well as a car and entry into either the Miss World or Miss Universe pageants. In total Miss SA’s prizes amount to a cash value of about R3-million.

Zozibini Tunzi is crowned Miss South Africa 2019 and will represent SA at an International pageant of her choosing in December.

Zozibini is a 25-year-old completing her BTech in PR from Cape Town.
Her role models are her parents and Caster Semenya, whom she’d love to meet. Zozibini is a hard-core Marvel fan, was a Game of Thrones addict and enjoys eating out.

Zozibini was a Miss SA semi-finalist in 2017. She came back for the crown in 2019 so it’s safe to say she earned it

Congratulations Zozibini 😘
